 A Chultun is a completely unremarkable construction from the outside, appearing as little more than a funnel of plastered aprons that lead into a deep dark pit. For the local residents however, this 'pit' serves as a valuable fresh water store - particularly so in areas where no rivers or cenotes are on hand to provide an unending supply. |
