Amhara infantry For the Makurian Armies, much of their allied troops arriving from Ethiopia are of the Amhara people, who have consistenly been the politically and culturally dominant ethnic group of Abyssinia since having established the Kingdom of Aksum in the 1st century AD. Many of the ranks of these Amharan Infantry hail from the harsh and stark mountains of Ethiopia where they etch out an existence as hardy farmers, easily defending their rugged homes but having it difficult to travel or trade.
