Royal Mamluk Cavalry The appearance of these men on the battlefield is so fierce that their foes are trembled and their hearts are filled with despair. Royal Mamluks are the best Ayyubid fighters, bought as slaves and trained to be warriors from earliest childhood. Protected by the finest armour they will fight until they either rout the enemy’s army or die in combat. They can perform a devastating charge with their heavy spears and maintain in hand-to-hand fighting wielding large axes in one hand, that lesser men can’t hold with both.
