Qara-Ghulam Bowmen When the battlefield would not allow the usage of large cavalry units these archers would dismount to provide their assistance from a safe range. Their composite bows are powerful and through years of training these men are good bowmen. Only a desperate general would waste these young men’s lives in close combat, where their lack of armour and heavy weapons makes them vulnerable against both infantry and cavalry forces.
